WHY OPT FOR A LIGHT STEEL FRAME HOME?

Light-steel-frame homes not only have a lesser impact on the environment and reduced utility (heating costs), but are also able to leverage the structural strength of steel in a variety of attractive ways. In fact, light-steel-frame homes offer a lot of advantages over more traditional homes – read on to find out more!

The structural benefits of steel

Buying a home is the largest purchase decision that most people will face. At Light Steel Frame Houses, our mission is to provide a safe and secure investment that will last a lifetime!

Because we use steel for the structure, our homes have a strong, safe framework that is engineered and built to last. Through leveraging the unique properties of steel, our homes also provide added protection from mould, termites and natural disasters including fires, earthquakes and hurricanes.

You can count on us to pre-engineer and manufacture your new home to your exact specifications. With a Light Steel Frame House, you will enjoy unique design options (made possible through the use of long spans), substantial savings in energy and maintenance costs, an often higher resale value and the peace of mind that your largest investment is safe and secure.

R-values

  • R-value = The ability of a product to resist the transfer of heat
  • The higher the R-value the more effective the insulation
  • R-value = Thickness of the Insulation / Thermal conductivity
  • According to National Building Regulations 10400 XA efficiency Act, implemented 11 Nov 2011, the minimum requirement R-value for construction walls is 0.35

Light steel framing systems

Light-steel-frame homes are pre-engineered and arrive on site in complete kits, ready for assembly. All of the framing components are already labelled, drilled, punched, marked and ready to bolt or screw together. We also provide a detailed set of construction plans and the related assembly instructions to show how each wall, opening and truss is to be constructed. Our homes may be easily erected, with all the components being bolted and screwed together quickly and easily.

In addition, light-steel-frame homes can be built on various foundation options and may be finished in a variety of exterior materials, including conventional brick and plaster cladding.

When complete, a light-steel-frame home is indistinguishable from a conventionally built house, but leverages the many inherent advantages of steel.

The onsite advantages of steel frame construction

The outer shell of a light-steel-frame home can be erected in less than a week, providing a weather tight environment in a very short space of time. Light-steel-frame houses can be erected 30% faster than traditional homes.

In addition, construction scheduling is improved as bad weather does not hold up the erection of the frame. A steel-frame structure can also not warp or shrink, therefore reducing the amount of snagging and call-backs to the site.

Because of the structural integrity of steel, light-steel-frame homes can be engineered and manufactured to extremely high tolerances in the factory, resulting in accurate and precise structures.

The benefits of light steel frame homes

The wall of a steel-frame house can contain 30% more heat that building regulations require, so the house will be more comfortable and cost substantially less to run.

In addition, as steel-frame construction substantially reduces build time, new home owners can take occupation of their homes in a shorter space of time than those using traditional building methods.
